CANCUN

Barely 30 years ago, when development of the Cancun tourist destination began, it was a virtually untouched island of white sand separating the sea from the lagoon. Since then, it has been growing steadily. Cancun is a carefully designed mega project and the results are clearly visible. The prime attractions are the clear, blue-green waters and the tropical climate. Cancun is located not far from a number of magnificent archeological sites which served as important centers of the Maya World. Today, Cancun offers a sophisticated infrastructure, first-class tourism services and a variety of attractions. With the beautiful natural setting, it is no wonder that it is Mexico’s most popular tourist destination and one of the ten most popular destinations in the world with an average of two millions five hundred seventy seven thousand eight hundred forty two visitors annually.

The Cancun hotel zone is located on a lovely 22-km (14-mile) long island with silky white sand beaches lapped by sparkling water and bathed in radiant sun all year round. The hotel area is flanked by the tranquil waters of the Bahía de Mujeres, the deep blue Caribbean waters and the Nichupté Lagoon, ideal for every type of aquatic sport. The Cancun development covers approximately 50,000 km2 (nearly 20,000 sq. mi.) which can be summed up in two words: sea and jungle. A paradise of powdery white sand beaches are softly washed by warm tropical waters in every conceivable shade of blue and green. The natural beauty of the state of Quintana Roo doesn’t end at the water’s surface, for beneath the gentle waves exists another world of color and movement where brightly-colored tropical fish dart among the coral reefs.
